About us
health matters was started in 1932 as Bromley Health Centre. The owner was one of the founders of health food retailing in the UK, Hugh McLeery.
It was based at 54, Widmore Road, Bromley and served the whole of the North West Kent area, with regular deliveries to Sevenoaks, Greenwich and all places between.
In 1982 Marion Allen acquired the business. In 1991 the shop moved to the Glades shopping centre, and in 1996 it moved to its present location at 8, Widmore Road.
Since then the business has expanded to include two further stores all in Kent, but the ethos of all the stores is basically unchanged. We remain one of the few founder members of The Health Store.
Our twenty-five members of staff across our three stores undergo professional training, and their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm is directed at helping our customers get the best support for their needs.
While the health food retail market is very different to what it was in 1932, the objectives are very much the same - sourcing the best natural and additive safe products for our discerning customers.
